THE LITTLE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL BASEBALL RULE BOOK WILL BE USED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE FOLLOWING RULES FOR THE LITTLE LEAGUERS OF KENOSHA, INC. PROGRAM.

I. PURPOSE

The Little Leaguers of Kenosha program was established in 1952. It is a baseball program to serve the youth of Kenosha County east of I-94. It is geared to provide an outlet of healthful activity and training under good leadership in the atmosphere of wholesome community participation.                                                             

It is dedicated to helping children become good and descent citizens. It strives to inspire them with a goal and to enrich their lives toward the day they must take their place in the world. It establishes for them the rudiments of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play.

II. AGE REQUIREMENTS

Any child who is 9 years old before May 1st of the current year and any player who does not reach their 13th birthday before May 1st of the current year are eligible to tryout for the Little Leaguers of Kenosha, Inc. program.  

III. TRYOUTS/EVALUATIONS

All new children who have a the registration forms completed properly will have the opportunity to take part in the leaguers tryout/evaluation on the specified date. Such evaluations are conducted by managing personal of the program in order to assist in determining the playing skills and ability of the candidate.  

IV. PLAYER SELECTION

A. SPRING PROGRAM

    1. On the basis of tryouts/evaluation, comparative point values are given to each      candidate. Managers then participate in an order of selection based o the previous year's team record. The selection continues until each roster age group is completed.

    2. The only players that can be placed on a designated team, providing they qualify for the program are;                                                                                                 

       a. Any manger with no child on the team will be awarded an extra coaches selection.

        b. New managers are allowed;

          1. Coaches selection;

             a. 11/12 program, one coach selection

             b. 9/10 program, two coaches selections

          2. Managers selection;

             a. Manager's child.

             b. Extra coach's selection, providing the manager has no child on the team and     the previous manager has no child on the roster.

    3. Only one player per round may be selected unless;

       a. SPONSOR; The child must be from  a family owned business. The sponsor may select whatever team they choose for their child.

    b. Brother and/or sister currently on the roster.

   4. If a team does claim two players in one round, said team will forfeit their selection in the next round

   5. The draft order will be based on the teams record from the previous season, worst to best

B. FALL PROGRAM

    Rosters will be determined by the President.

V. ROSTERS

    The President will determine the number of players per team.

VI. PARTICIPATION

A. Both leagues have a mandatory participation rule.

    1. Each player must start in the field every other game.

       a. Every player must play in every game unless there is a valid reason for not playing the individual. The opposing manager must be notified at the start of the game.

       b. All substitutions are made at the beginning (top of) the 4th inning. No substitutions are permitted prior to the top of the 4th, unless a player becomes ill or injured.

B. EXTRA INNING GAMES;

    1. Any player may re-enter the game at the top of the extra inning. After this time the rules for re-entering a game are to be followed.

    2. A player who has pitched in the game may not pitch again in this game.

C. Once a player is placed on a spring roster and drops out of the program. Said player becomes ineligible for the remainder of that season as well as the following season.

D. Once a player is placed on a spring roster, the player is not allowed to change to another team. The only exception would be if the player's parent/guardian became manager of another team.

VII. OBJECTIVES OF THE GAME

A. PITCHING MOUND DISTANCE:  46 feet

B. EQUIPMENT

    1. The ball will be determined by the President.

    2. Bats: must meet Little League specifications.

        PENALTY; 1st offense, bat removed from the game. 2nd offense; player and manager removed from the game and suspended for the next game. 3rd offense; player, parent, and manager to meet with President and could result in removal from the program.

    3. Batting helmet; ONLY league issued batting helmets are permitted without exception.

    4. Catching gear.

:       a. League issued preferred.

        b. Personal catching equipment allowed providing;  

          1. Contains the NOSCE seal.

         2. Letter of approval from the President. Manager must have a copy.

         3. Must be black or navy blue in color.

         PENALTY; 1st offense, warning and equipment removed from the game. 2nd offense; one game suspension for manager and player. 3rd offense; parent, player, and manager to meet with President.

C. UNIFORM

    1. All players, on each team, will only wear league issued uniforms.

    2 Players MUST be in complete uniform in order to play.

    3. Uniforms are property of the league and parents/guardians are responsible to have them  clean and neat for each game. It is your responsibility to maintain them.

    4. Uniforms shall consist of;

      a. Jersey, which is issued by the league & property of the league, must be;

          1. Tucked in at all times.

          2. No writing, printing, markings, etc permitted on the jersey.

          3. If the jersey is defaced in any manner, the parent/guardian is responsible for replacement.

       b. Pants; issued each year to players and are yours to keep.  Only white pants are allowed.

       c. Hat, supplied by the league & yours to keep. If lost or misplaced you must purchase one from the concession stand. Hats are not to be worn backwards.

       d. Socks are league issued & yours to keep. If lost you must purchase matching socks from a store.

    5. Jerseys are to be returned after the last game.

    6. Managers & coaches are required to wear only the league issued shirt. If not in proper attire you are not allowed in the dugout or on the field. If a hat is worn it must the league issued hat.

    7. Uniforms are to be worn only for Little League functions.

D. CATCHER

    1. Equipment required must be worn during games, practice, & warm ups.

       a. Supporter & cup.

       b. Catcher's mitt

       c. Mask, helmet, & throat guard.

       d. Chest protector.

       e. Leg guards.

       f. Only league issued equipment allowed unless rule VII-4 is followed.

    2. If a female is going to catch, parent permission in writing is required & a copy given to the President.

    3. Players warming up a pitcher must wear the helmet, mask, & throat protector.

E. BATTING HELMETS

    1. Every player in the spring program will be issued a batting helmet when they register their first year in the program. It is theirs to keep for their entire Little League career.

    2. You are responsible to maintain & clean it for your entire stay in the program.

    3. If lost or misplaced you must purchase one from the concession stand.

    4. Only league issued batting helmets are allowed. NO EXCEPTIONS.

    5. Players are required to wear batting helmets when;

       a. Batting

       b. Base runner

       c. Base coach

    6. Place the players name only on the inside of the helmet.

    7. No decals, writing, printing, etc. or discoloring is allowed.

    8. Only the Little Leaguers of Kenosha decal is allowed on helmets. It is placed on the front center of batting helmets and on the rear center of catcher's helmets.

    9. Throwing of bat &/or helmet.

      a. 1st offense; either warning or ejection. Umpire decision is final.

       b. 2nd offense; removal (ejected) from t he game & the president notified.

       c. If the same player is ejected a second time, the player will be suspended. The President will determine the length of the suspension.

VIII. STARTING AND ENDING THE GAMES.

A. Schedules are determined by the President.

B. Umpires will meet with, at home plate, with the managers 5 minutes before the scheduled game time.

    1. Go over ground rules.

    2. Exchange lineup sheets & must include first & last name, jersey number, & position.

    3. Record game starting time. Time begins when the first pitch is thrown.

C. Length of games; no inning is to start  after;

    1. 11/12; 0ne hour forty-five minutes.

    2. 9/10; one hour thirty minutes.

    3. Fall league; one hour thirty minutes.

    4. If home team is batting and leading when the time limit is up, play stops.

    5.Time limits are ignored if games are tied. Games will be played until a winner is declared.

D. Dugouts;

     1. Team listed last on the schedule is the home team & occupies the third base dugout.

     2. Team listed first on the schedule is the visiting team & occupies the first base dugout.

     3. The home team has the official score book & pitch count.

E. Game balls will be provided. However, each team is to have an alternate ball available.

F. Batting Order

    1. Seven (7) players are required to start the game. If a player leaves the game because of injury or illness, the game can continue with less than seven players. if the team cannot continue to play, the game will be forfeited.

    2. CONTINUOUS BATTING ORDER will be used. All players present must be listed.

    3. If a player arrives after the game begins, it will be the managers decision to play the child or not.

    4. If a player leaves a game for injury, illness, etc. that position in the batting order will be skipped. It is not an automatic out.

    5. Once a player is removed from the line-up, regardless of the reason, that player may not re-enter the game unless the game goes into extra innings.

G. Managers and Coaches

    1. Anyone, with direct assistance with players must register as a coach and or manager of the Little Leaguers of Kenosha. Registration is done annually.

    2. Background checks are mandated.

    3. The offensive team shall position a coach in each coaches box and must;

       a. Remain in the coaches box at all times.

       b. Will not heckle or interfere with defensive players.

       c. If the coach is a player, they must wear a protective helmet.

    4. Only registered managers and coaches in proper attire are permitted in the dugout and on the field. If not the game could result in forfeit and suspensions.

H. Ejections

    1. When a player, coach, or manager is ejected, they must leave the playing immediately and take no further part in the game.

    2. They are to retreat from the playing area.

    3. PENALTY; 1st offense one game suspension (teams next game). 2nd offense; requires a meeting with the President and/or Board and could result in permanent suspension.

    4. If the person suspended appears at the park for the game they are suspended for, they may not take part in any pre-game or game activity. PENALTY; Additional two game suspension.

I. SPORTSMANSHIP

    1. No player, coach, or manager shall at any time;

       a. Incite, or try to incite, by word, sign, or action players or spectators.

       b. Use language which in any manner refer to or reflect upon opposing players, coaches, managers, umpires, or spectators.

       c. No fielder shall take position in the batters line of vision, with deliberate intent to distract the batter.

       d. PENALTY; 1st offense; warning. 2nd offense; ejection.

    2. When disapproval of an umpires call is demonstrated. The umpire will issue a warning. If it continues, the umpire will eject the offender. If the offender cannot be identified the game could result into a forfeit.

    3. No one, other than the manager may quietly question the umpire on balls and/or strikes. Violators could be ejected.

    4. CHANTING AND CHATTER

       a. No negative comments or chatter toward the opposing team or players is permitted. Only positive encouragement to your players is permissible.

       b. Examples of phrases/terms not acceptable; 'hey batter', swing batter', pitcher's going wild'. etc.

       c. Reinforce and stress the positive, not the negative.

J. FORFEITS

    1. A team cannot field enough (7) players within ten minutes of the starting time. Unless the umpire determines the delay is unavoidable.

    2. A team refuses to play or continue to play. PENALTY; Manager must meet with the President before the next scheduled game.

    3. A team fails to remove an ejected individual within a reasonable time.

    4. After a warning, the team, player, coach, manager, spectator, willfully and persistently violates any rules.

    5. Anyone employs tactics designed to intentionally delay or shorten the game.

    6. Forfeits and circumstances are to be submitted to the President within 24 hours.

K. RAINOUTS AND/OR CANCELLATIONS

    1. Games will be made up as soon as possible.

    2. Dates & times will be posted on the web site, park bulletin board.

    3. All games will be re-played from the beginning unless President decides not to.

    4. Innings pitched will count.

L. PROTESTS

    1. Protests will only be considered when there is a rule violation or interpretation of a playing rule or use of an ineligible player.

    2. No protest will be considered based on an umpires decision.

    3. Unauthorized equipment must be removed from the game. It is not a basis for a protest.

    4. Only the manager or acting manager may protest.

    5. The protesting manager shall immediately and before play resumes, notify the umpire and opposing manager that the game is being protested. The reason for the protest is also to be announced.

       a. If a protest is not announced at the time a believed rule violation occurred, no protest will be allowed to be filed.

       b. If the protest is for an ineligible player, the protesting manager must inform the umpire and opposing manager before the final out of the game occurs.

    6. Protests are to be filed with the President within 24 hours.

    7. A $25.00 fee must accompany the protest. If the protest is allowed, the fee will be returned.

    8. The President and/or Board will review the protest and return a response within 48 hours.

       a. If the protest is allowed, play will resume from the point of the infraction.

       b. The game will be rescheduled at the Presidents discretion.

IX THE RUNNER

A. SLIDING

     1. HEAD FIRST SLIDES ARE NOT ALLOWED going toward a base. If returning to a base it is permissible. PENALTY; Runner will be declared out.

     2. The purpose of this rule is to avoid intentional contact.

     3. The runner must slide to avoid interfering with the fielder.

     4. Going back to a base, the runner does not have to slide as long as there is no contact or interference with the fielder.

     5. All umpire decisions are final. This is not an item of protest.

B. PASSED BALLS and WILD PITCHES.

     1. Does not apply for the 8/9 year old fall league.

     2. On a passed ball, runners can advance at their own risk. If the ball remains in play the runners may continue to advance, at their own risk, as long as the ball is in play.

     3. If the ball goes out of play, runners can only advance one base.

     4. A base runner on third may attempt to score on  a passed ball.

C. BASE STEALING

     1. When a pitcher is in contact with the pitching rubber and in possession of the ball and the catcher is ready to receive delivery of a pitch, base runners shall not leave their bases until the ball has crossed the plate. If runner leaves, the runner be declared out.

        a. If a runner is not in contact  with the base when the pitch is delivered, the runner is out and the ball is dead.

        b. The violation by one base runner shall affect all other base runners.

     2. The runner is allowed to leave the base after the pitched ball has crossed the plate. The defensive team may attempt to get the runner(s) out.

     3. Once a runner makes an attempt to steal a base any ball thrown back to the pitcher is not a dead ball unless declared by the umpire.

     4. 9/10 League Amendment; April 2010

        a. NO stealing of home plate under any circumstances.                                                                    

        b. Once a catcher is in the act of throwing the ball back to the pitcher, and the runner is not attempting to advance; the ball is dead. NO runner may advance under any circumstances. i.e. No delayed steal.

 

X. PITCHER

A. NUMBER OF PITCHES

    1. Maximum number of pitches permitted per day

      a. 8 year olds, 50 pitches

       b. 9/10 year olds, 75 pitches

      c. 11/12 year olds, 85 pitches

    2. Days of rest;

       a. 66 or more pitches in a day, four (4) calendar days of rest.

      b. 51-65 pitches per day, three (3) calendar days of rest.

      c. 36-50 pitches per day, two (2) calendar days of rest.

      d. 21-35pitches per day, one (1) calendar days of rest.

       e. 1-20 pitches per day, no (0) calendar days of rest.

    3. A player does not have to miss a game, providing the number of days of rest is fulfilled.

    4. Multiple games played in one day, will be considered as games played in consecutive days.

    5. PENALTY; for violating pitching rules;

      a. Violating team will forfeit the game.

      b. First violation, manager will be suspended for two games.

      c. Second violation, manager will be removed from the program permanently.

B. PITCHES PERMITTED

    1. Curve ball or any such breaking ball (other than natural movement) shall not be allowed. This will be enforced by the umpires and is for the players protection.

    2. Only fast balls, change-ups, and knuckleballs are permitted.

    3. If an illegal pitch was hit safely, the offensive team has the option of allowing the play or decline the play and have the pitch ruled a ball.

    4. Any illegal pitch will be ruled a ball.

    5. PENALTY;

       a. 1st offense; a warning and the pitch ruled a ball unless the batter hit the ball safely.

          b. 2nd offense, same as 1st offense.

         c. 3rd offense, pitcher removed as pitcher but not from the game.

         d. The President is to be notified after 2nd offense, and if the player is a repeat violator, that player potentially, would not be allowed to pitch again. 

C. WARM UP THROWS

    1. Five pitches to start the game and for new pitchers entering the game.

    2. Three pitches in-between innings.

D. INTENTIONAL WALKS

    1. Intentional walks are not allowed. No such strategy to attempt to take the bat of the players hand will be allowed.

    2. If the umpire determines the manager has instructed  the pitcher to pitch around a batter. The umpire will warn the manager and rule the batter to hit again.

    3. The umpire will notify the President of the violation.

    4. PENALTY; 1st offense; a warning. Successive violations will be suspension determined by the President.

XI. UMPIRE

A. GENERAL

    1. One or more umpires will be assigned to officiate the game.

    2. Meet with the managers before the game to;

       a. Go over ground rules.

       b. Remind managers of;

          1. Sliding rule.

          2. Number of warm up pitches.

          3. Substitute runner for the catcher (any time catcher gets on base. but must have runner with two outs).

          4. Exchange line-up sheets that properly filled out.

          5. Identify pitch counter.

          6. Determine starting time (time begins when first pitch is delivered).

    3. Must know the rules.

    4. Return line-up sheet with correct score to concession stand.

B. EJECTIONS

    1. Each umpire has the authority to disqualify any player, coach, manager, or spectator for objecting decisions,  unsportsmanshiplike  conduct, or language and to eject such disqualified person from the playing field and/or stands.

    2. the President is to be notified within  24 hours.

C. POSITIONING

    1. If only one umpire, he/she will call the game from behind the plate.

    2. If more than one umpire;

       a. Plate umpire will be umpire-in-chief.

       b. Base umpires will position themselves behind the infielders.

D. ATTIRE

    1. Umpires must supply their own equipment.

    2. Shirt must be clean & tucked in at all times, be league issued or WIAA umpire shirt.

    3. Black or gray slacks or shorts. Absolutely no jeans.

    4.  Pick up game balls and clip board from the concession stand.

XII. MANAGER

A. RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Every manager is responsible to conduct themselves as well as their coaches, players, and parents in a manner that does not embarrass themselves, players, coaches, parents, spectators, and the Little Leaguers of Kenosha, inc.

    2. Any violent outbursts and constant disruption will be handled by the President.

    3. You are responsible for the behavior of the teams players, coaches, and parents.

    4. You must get any information given to you, by the league, to your players and parents.

    5. Only the manager or acting manager may question an umpire regarding a decision or ruling. Any violation of this by a coach or player could result in ejection.

B. FUND RAISERS

    1. Must assist in getting materials to players and parents.

    2. Major fund raisers;

       a. Porky 'N Pancake Breakfast.

       b. Golf Outing, participation and prizes are encouraged.

       c. Other

C. SCOREBOOK

    1. Every team is required to keep an accurate scorebook.

    2. It must include;

      a. Players first initial and last name, jersey number, and position.

       b.. Game staring time.

       c. Umpires name.

       d. Team name and date.

    3. Scoresheets are duplicate, after the game leave a copy at the concession stand.

D. PITCH COUNT

    1. Sheets are to be filled out completely.

    2. They are to be turned in to the concession stand at the end of your game.

    3. The sheets will be in a binder for managers to review.

    4. At pre-game meeting, each manager will identify the pitch counter.

   5. Pitch counters should consult after each half inning.

    6. The home team has the official pitch count.

    7. The umpire is not involved in any manner with the pitch count.

XIII. TWELVE YEAR OLD ALL STAR GAME.

A. The date, roster size, and type of line-up will be determined by the President.

B. Each 11/12 team will vote for three twelve year olds to represent their team in the game.

    1.. The vote will be done toward the end of the season and conducted by the Board.

    2. Only the players vote. The managers will decide any ties.

    3. The manager will be given the results after the votes are tabulated.

C. DESIGNATED HITTER

    1. Use will be determined by the President.

    2. Will be one player from each of the teams with the three poorest records.

    3. A team will not have more than one DH.

    4. DH will be the leadoff hitter in each set of innings.

D. PITCHING

    1. Players will be allowed to pitch no more than  one inning. This will not count towards regular season or postseason game.

E. MANAGERS & COACHES

    1. The rotation of managers and coaches will be determined by the president.

    2. Each league will have a manager, first & third base coach, and scorekeeper.

    3. Each appointed manager has the privillage off managing or coaching themselves or designate one of his/her registered coaches to serve as the team representative.

    4. There is no practice allowed for the game

E. LINE-UPS

    1. Managers are to submit a detailed line-up to the president, no later than 6:00Pm on Wednesday preceding the game. Line-ups are to include;

       a. Player's first and last name

       b. Team and jersey number.

       c. Season statistics; batting average, home runs, & comments.

       d. If the DH is used, it will be the leadoff hitter in each set.

    2. Each player will play a minimum of three innings.

    3. If the game is tied after nine innings., the manager may select the line-up of his choice, but must abide by the pitching rules.

    4. The game will be played for the entire 54 outs, regardless of the score.

F. Every team is encouraged to be present in complete uniform. Every player will be introduced in the pre-game ceremony.

XIV. PLAYOFFS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS

A. All league rules will apply.

B. DIVISION TIES DETERMINED BY;

    1. Head to head competition.

    2. Record within respective division.

    3. Record within respective league.

    4. If still tied, a one game playoff will determine the champion.

C. FORMAT

    1. All teams will participate.

    2. the format will be determined by the President..

    3. Teams will be seated according to their regular season record.

    4. Games will be scheduled by the President.

XV. 'JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS' TOURNAMENT

    1. The tournament originated in 1987.

    2. Special rules may apply, but must be approved by the President.

    3. The tournament is mandatory.

    4. There will be separate tournaments for each league.

XVI. LITTLE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT TEAMS

A. We are eligible to have teams play in the Little League District 6 tournament. The winning team from the District advances to the state tournament. the state tournament winner advances to the regional playoffs. the regional winner then advances to the World Series Tournament in Williamsport, PA>

B. Teams from each from each league (National & American) and from each age group (9, 10, 11, &12) will be selected.

C. Player selection for each age group will be determined by the board each year.

D. Manger and coach appointments will be done by the President.

E. Team rosters will be announced June 16th.

XVII. GENERAL RULES;

A. DIAMOND USE;

    1. Practice

       a. Teams select practice times at the designated meeting.

       b. Diamonds are reserved until the 'Just Say No To Drugs' tournament begins.

    2. Game days;

       a. No batting practice allowed on the diamonds.

       b. NO use of the infield is permitted for pre-game practice.

       c. teams are not allowed on the infield until the game begins.

       d. Teams may warm in the outfield if time permits.

       e. The team listed second on the schedule is the home team. They have use of the diamond one hour before the game and must be finished thirty minutes before the game is scheduled to start.

       f. The team listed first on the schedule is the visiting team. They have use of the diamond thirty minutes before the game is scheduled to start.

       g. For the second game or any additional game, teams are not allowed to use the diamonds in between games.

B. PRACTICE AT KENOSHA SPORTS COMPLEX;

    1. Regular season teams may not practice more than three times per week.

    2. Practice may not begin until the date determined by the President.

    3. Pre-season diamond selection;

       a. Teams will select times and dates based on the draft position.

       b. Each league will select two practice times, beginning with the 11/12 year old league.

       c. Each league will have the opportunity to select a third practice time, starting again with the 11/12 year old league.

    4. If you elect to practice you have insurance overage.

    5. Practice times are reserved until games are played.

    6. Reserving diamonds during the season;

       a. KSC diamonds can be reserved providing no games are scheduled.

       b. Diamonds may be reserved through the President on the Thursday of the preceding week.

       c. Practice times may be reserved at other parks by contacting the Parks Department 653-4061.

    7. Practices are to improve and develop baseball skills for every player on your roster.

C. BATTING CAGE

    1. KSC currently has only three batting cages. Teams scheduled on diamond #4 will not have access to the cages. Teams on diamonds#1,2, & 3 will use the respective cages.

    2. TIMES;

       a. The team listed first (visiting team) on the schedule has the use of the cage one hour before the scheduled game time and ending thirty (30) minutes before game time.

       b. Team listed second (home team) on the schedule has the use of the cage thirty (30) minutes before game time.

    3. RULES:

       a. Only manager and registered coaches are allowed to throw batting practice.

       b. An adult must supervise players outside the batting cages for safety and order.

       c. Only one batter per cage and batter must wear their batting helmet.

       d. All equipment and debris is to be picked up when you leave.

       e. Abuse or violations will result in loss of privilege.

D. DUGOUTS

    1. The team listed first on the schedule is the visiting team, and will occupy the first base dugout.

    2. The team listed second on the schedule is the home team and will occupy the third base dugout.

    3. Each team is responsible to pick up debris and dispose of it properly after the game.

E. SCOREBOARDS

    1. Control boxes are to be picked up from the concession stand prior to the game and returned when the game is completed.

    2. The home team is responsible to operate the control box.

    3. Assign a parent or coach to operate the control box.

    4. If the control box is lost, stolen, or misplaced the manager will be liable for the repair and/or replacement cost.

F. BASES;

    1. They are located on shelves in the men's restroom.

    2. Home team of first game puts them out.

    3. Home team of last game puts them away.

G. INJURIES

    1. Any injury must be reported to board member on duty or President.

    2. An injury form must be completed.

H. GAME RESULTS

    1. Must be legible on score sheets that are turned in.

    2. Kenosha Sports Network is available to post results, pictures, & comments. This is a great opportunity to promote your team accomplishments, players, as well as the program.

I. PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Abide by ALL rules of the Little Leaguers of Kenosha, Inc.

    2. Have your child present on time for practice and games.

    3. Pick your child up promptly after practices and games.

    4. Inform the manager if your child will miss practice or games.

    5. Have the uniform properly clean for each game.

J. Make your child experience a positive one while in the Little Leaguers of Kenosha program. Encourage them when they make an offensive error (not getting a hit, base running error, etc.) or make a defensive error (physical or mental). Praise them and others for their effort and determination. Even though baseball is a game of failure, it is extremely rewarding. Keep it fun so your child has a smile on their face.
